OCONEE COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – A man has died following a motorcycle crash early Friday morning in Oconee County.

The crash happened shortly after midnight on Sunrise Drive near Salem.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, a motorcycle traveling north on Sunrise Drive ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

The driver of the motorcycle, 47-year-old Freddie Ray Goins, was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital for his injuries.

The coroner says Goins died just before 10:50 a.m.

Troopers say he was not wearing a helmet and was thrown from the motorcycle in the crash.
